My sister wanted to thank all of her guests for coming to celebrate her son’s first birthday so we made some quick thank you cards with blank cards, paint, and a marker.

Cards can be made quite easily by typing something on the computer and printing it directly on the blank cards.  Or you can use a die cutting machine to cut out phrases, shapes, and silhouettes to personalize a card. In this case we opted for some old fashioned painting!  Since turquoise was part of the birthday theme, I mixed white paint with food colouring.  (Once we finished I realized that wasnt the best idea since it dyed his hand a bluish tinge…oops!). Washable paint in your choice of color would probably be best.

We dipped his hand in the paint and pressed it down the best we could on the card. Some turned out really well, and as you can see, others not as much. You can’t really expect too much from a one year old!  He prefers to point his finger rather than give high fives.

After we got his handprint on all of the cards we experimented with where we would write the thank you.  Then my sister personalized each card with a message to the guests.

Pretty simple, yet thoughtful.  And a great keepsake for grandparents and others!

This is a very cute idea, I am sure guests would appreciate the sentimental note and it’s less work on Mom! Thanks for sharing.
