I love iced tea, especially on a warm sunny day or with a casual meal.  There are so many variations of iced tea that it is sometimes hard to decide what to put in it.  When you go to a restaurant in the United States, iced tea is literally “iced tea”, meaning it’s tea with ice in it. It’s cold, has ice in it and tastes like tea. It’s not sweet and it’s not sour. If I want the delicious iced tea that I love, I have to remember to ask for sweet tea, otherwise I have to add sugar to it on my own.

Now, back to my favorite homemade iced tea. Whenever I have a barbecue, I make this iced tea which is very simple, yet really well liked by my guests. I start making it the night before so that the tea is nice and strong. It’s almost like traditional iced tea, but without the sugar.

6 cups of water

3 Green Tea Bags

1/2 cup of honey

Juice from 1 lemon

To make the honey lemon green tea iced tea, I bring 6 cups of water to a boil  in a saucepan, then remove it from the heat and immediately add the 3 green tea bags.

The tea bags should steep in the pot for at least an hour or longer depending on how much time you have before you want to serve it. For me, I like my tea strong so I leave the tea bags in overnight and take the teabags out the next morning.

Next, I pour the tea into a pitcher, add a half cup of honey and the juice of one lemon and stir it up. I add ice just before serving and it’s ready to enjoy!
